The Siab bazaar is the largest and oldest bazaar in Samarkand, one of the largest and oldest bazaars in Central Asia. The area of the bazaar exceeds seven hectares.
The name of the bazaar comes from the name of one of the historical and geographical regions of the city - Siab, and the river Siab flowing near the bazaar. The word "Siab" from Persian and Tajik languages is translated as black water/river.
