The Kalyan Minaret, also known as the Bukhara Minaret, is the minaret of the Friday mosque in the historical center of Bukhara, built in 1127 by the Karakhanid Arslan Khan (1102-1130), known for his urban planning activities.
Minaret Kalyan is a symbol of Bukhara; the highest and one of the oldest architectural monuments of the city; one of the most outstanding structures of its kind in the Muslim East.
The minaret of the early Middle Ages, which forms a single architectural ensemble with the Kalyan Mosque, Miri Arab Madrassah and Emir Alim Khan, along with other monuments of the historical center of Bukhara, is included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
